À propos
This Program meets the requirements of the Québec ministry responsible for wildlife, since 2024 (then referred to as MELCCFP), for the training of Scenthound handlers involved in injured animal recovery. The content and quality of the training exceed Québec's standards, allowing adaptation for handlers working in other Canadian provinces. The techniques presented are rooted in the historical development of the Hanoverian Scenthound and Bavarian Mountain Scenthound breeds and are based on sound, ethical, and professional practices. However, this training does not replace the laws and regulations in force in each province. IMPORTANT: Participants are responsible for ensuring that their practices comply with the legal framework applicable in their jurisdiction. For Québec residents wishing to apply for a certificate for armed tracking, Module 3 is mandatory. Access to Module 3 is conditional upon completion of the Program, accumulation of two and a half (2.5) years of experience, and performing 35 localizations, using a dog, of a wounded animal during a hunting activity. To apply for a certificate for armed tracking in Québec, the Scenthound handler must have a minimum of three (3) years of experience and have carried out, at least forty-five (45) times, with the help of a dog, localization of a animal wounded during a hunting activity. This complementary module allows the handler to be armed during recovery operations, in accordance with applicable regulations in Québec.
